Actuate and Tsinghua University Sign MOU to Collaborate on BI Software Research.

SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. -- Partnership Will Facilitate Knowledge Transfer and Innovation in Business Intelligence and Enterprise Reporting 

Actuate (Nasdaq:ACTU), the world leader in Enterprise Reporting Applications, announced today that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Research Institute of Information Technology (RIIT), part of the School of Information Science and Technology (SIST) of Tsinghua University, China's top academic institution for computer software research, to establish a close relationship in the area of Business Intelligence (BI). Actuate will provide software licenses, training and consulting services to initiate and maintain the collaboration.

This move marks the first collaboration of this nature between a BI vendor and a university in China. Research staff from Actuate and Tsinghua University will work together to drive research in BI and enterprise reporting software targeted at various geographical markets worldwide.

Tsinghua University is China's number one academic institution for computer software research, especially in the areas of BI, e-enterprise, and e-government. Besides providing Actuate with top students and research professionals to further the development of BI software and publish articles, Tsinghua University will also send its top performing students to Actuate Corporation Headquarters in the U.S. as part of an internship program. There are also future plans for Actuate to work with Tsinghua University to develop a joint curriculum in business intelligence software design for students.
