The tools will utilize the established Formula One(R) brand and allow Java developers to easily integrate reporting functionality into any Java project deployed from a J2EE application server.

The ReportingEngines division will allow Actuate to take advantage of the growing demand for embedded report development tools in the Java marketplace. The Formula One Reporting Engines product family currently includes the Formula One e.Report Engine and the Formula One e.Spreadsheet Engine. Developers use these 100% pure Java engines to access data sources, embed reporting functionality in applications deployed from J2EE server environments, and distribute richly formatted Microsoft Excel, PDF, XML, HTML and DHTML reports to employees, customers and partners inside and outside the firewall.

Formula One e.Spreadsheet Engine

The Formula One e.Spreadsheet Engine is an API-driven component used to embed Excel-compatible spreadsheet functionality into projects deployed from J2EE application and Web servers. This engine dynamically creates and delivers genuine, fully functional Microsoft Excel files, including precise rows and columns, formulas, charts, multiple worksheets, and numerous other interactive spreadsheet features. The engine also includes classes for integrating Excel-compatible grids with rich spreadsheet functionality into Java desktop applications and applet interfaces.
