), the Information Delivery market leader, today announced the opening of an office in Fribourg, Switzerland, to serve as the company's international headquarters.

Now the central location for all of Actuate's international business affairs, Actuate Switzlerland will have as its main priorities the global expansion of the Information Delivery market and continued high-level support for the company's mounting worldwide customer base. The new office will employ as many as 100 people by 2006, and be directed by vice president of International Operations, Olivier Gachot.

"Actuate revenue from sales to non-North America-based customers has increased from 22 percent in the second quarter of 2001 to 27 percent in the third quarter of 2001. What's more, Actuate has committed to growing sales outside the U.S. and Canada to 40 percent of total company revenue by mid-2003. To ensure continued momentum Actuate will lean on the experience of Mr. Gachot, his team and the strength of our powerful and popular Information Delivery solution."

The opening of the Switzerland office will be completed in four phases. The first phase will be to deliver all international orders, invoices and product shipments to customers from the Fribourg office, instead of delivering from the U.S. The second phase will be to develop Actuate University, a separate facility to train customers and employees. Actuate will invite professors from the surrounding universities to participate in discussions about how Information Delivery technology can improve business processes. The third phase is to provide customer support 24 hours a day, seven days a week. This team will be multilingual and able to help customers from around the world. The fourth and final stage will be product localization Customizing software and documentation for a particular country. It includes the translation of menus and messages into the native spoken language as well as changes in the user interface to accommodate different alphabets and culture. Presently the Actuate product is able to work with multiple international operating systems Operating systems can be categorized by technology, ownership, licensing, working state, usage, and by many other characteristics. In practice, many of these groupings may overlap.  as well as be translated into many different languages. In the future, these processes will be completed from the Fribourg office.
