He died a week ago today, six days after his 77th birthday, after a lengthy illness, said Fick, who met Huebing in 1985 when he called her to list his Fern Ridge home. She helped him sell it and then find a new one off Fox Hollow Road, on the southwest outskirts of Eugene. A home he rarely left and where he died a week ago today, Fick said.

"He didn't talk much about it," Fick said of Huebing's acting career. "He just left it behind and just kind of wanted to get into oblivion with his birds and deer," she said, referring to the sanctuary Huebing, an animal lover and avid fly fisherman, created in his backyard.

Married and divorced three times with no children, Huebing moved to Oregon 25 years ago because he had been through the area on vacation and liked it, Fick said.

Born March 4, 1929, in Reedsburg, Wis., Huebing studied acting at Chicago's prestigious Goodman Theatre in the early 1950s and was a stage actor in Chicago and New York New York, state, United States

"He was very quiet and humble," Fick said. "A wonderful, wonderful heart. Anyone who was fortunate enough to know him, loved him."
