WHAT: Minneapolis Community and Technical College (MCTC) will hold
a news conference prior to its 17th annual "Celebrate the
Dream" birthday tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The
news conference will feature keynote speaker Lou Gossett,
Jr.; a musical selection by James Grear & Company gospel
ensemble; and Phil Davis, president, MCTC, will speak.
WHEN: Monday, Jan. 15, 4:30-5:00 p.m.
(The "Celebrate the Dream" program beings at 7:00 p.m.)
WHERE: Basilica of Saint Mary (in the Sacristy on the west side of
the building), 16th and Hennepin Ave., Minneapolis. (Enter
through the Rectory; receptionist will buzz you in. Park on
17th St., or in the parking lot on 17th behind the church).

tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on Monday, Jan. 15 at
7:00 p.m. at the Basilica of Saint Mary, 16th and Hennepin,
Minneapolis. The keynote speaker will be acclaimed actor Lou
Gossett, Jr.
Gospel musical presentations will be performed by James
Grear & Company and the Nu Friends Community Choir, Young
Hands for Christ and the acappella youth group 4Given.
Roxane Battle will emcee the event, which is free and open
to the public. Sponsors include Target, the Star Tribune,
KMOJ radio, and the MCTC Foundation. Over 1,500 people are
expected to attend the event. Attendees are asked to bring
non-perishable food items to the event to benefit the
NorthPoint Health and Wellness Center food shelf.
