Actor Bruce Campbell to Work On NovaLogic Game; Cult Favorite Lends Voice to `Tachyon: The Fringe'.CALABASAS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 25, 1999-- Computer game developer and publisher NovaLogic has signed actor Bruce Campbell to provide the voice of Jake Logan, the hero of its upcoming space combat/adventure game "Tachyon tachyon (tăk`ēŏn'), hypothetical elementary particle that travels only at speeds exceeding that of light. According to the theory of relativity, the speed of light is the limiting velocity for all ordinary material particles.: The Fringe(TM)." In "Tachyon's" far-future story, the player takes on the role of Jake Logan, a mercenary fighter pilot who is banished to The Fringe, a region at the edge of colonized space. As he works to rebuild his life, Jake finds himself caught in the middle of a full-blown war between the colonists of The Fringe and a megacorporation known as GalSpan. Campbell will provide Jake's voice as the story unfolds. The Michigan-born actor has been working in film since 1983, when he starred in the first of director Sam Raimi's "Evil Dead" films. Campbell became a full-fledged, frequently quoted horror icon when he reprised his role as Ash, "Evil Dead's" larger-than-life hero, in "Evil Dead 2: Dead By Dawn" and "Army of Darkness." Since then, the very versatile Campbell has appeared in films as diverse as "Escape From L.A.," Joel and Ethan Coen's "The Hudsucker Proxy" and the French indie comedy "La Patinoire (The Ice Rink)." On television, Campbell had the title role in Fox's criminally underrated western comedy "The Adventures of Brisco County Jr.," and has been a guest star on "The X-Files" and NBC's acclaimed "Homicide: Life on the Street." He plays a recurring role as the King of Thieves in "Hercules: The Legendary Journeys" and "Xena: Warrior Princess" and has gone behind the camera to direct episodes of both series. "We're really pleased to have Bruce Campbell on board," said Mike Maza, Tachyon's producer. "He's a genuinely talented actor who also happens to be instantly recognizable to most gamers and science fiction fans, so he's a perfect fit for `Tachyon.'" "Tachyon: The Fringe" is scheduled to ship this fall in Windows CD-ROM format. Founded in 1985, NovaLogic Inc. is a leading developer and publisher of interactive entertainment software for the PC. NovaLogic's headquarters is located in Calabasas, with a subsidiary in London.
