Petersen, who describes himself as a "product of PR," will discuss how public relations helped mold his career and how it shapes the image of other child actors. Petersen started as one of the original Mousketeers on Walt Disney's "Mickey Mouse Mickey Mouse Famous character of Walt Disney's animated cartoons. He was introduced in Steamboat Willie (1928), the first animated cartoon with sound. Mickey was created by Disney, who also provided his high-pitched voice, and was usually drawn by the studio's head animator, Club." Later, his role as Donna Reed's son, "Jeff Stone Jeff Stone is a common name that can refer to different people:
Reed was born Donna Belle Mullenger on a farm near Denison, Iowa to William Richard Mullenger and Hazel Jane Shives. Show" became his identifying claim to fame. The show ran from 1958 through 1966 as Petersen went from a child to a young adult. After growing up before the public's eyes, Petersen experienced the worst side of playing the same young-star role for so many years. He learned a Hollywood lesson: One day he was everyone's darling; and the next day no one wanted to know his name. Petersen survived this experience, while many of his contemporaries did not. What he learned along the way made Petersen an advocate for protecting child actors and he formed A Minor Consideration, an organization assisting child actors and their parents against the pressures of the entertainment industry. In addition to his television career, Petersen has co-starred in movies, recorded successful pop songs and has written several adventure novels. Prior to the dinner program and the awards, the Inland Empire Chapter will host a silent auction. Items such as one- and two-night getaways at regional resort hotels and casinos, symphony tickets, restaurant meals and entertainment packages will be open for bidding. Members of the Inland Empire Sixty-Sixer's dance team will showcase the items for the silent auction. Proceeds of the silent auction go towards student sponsorships and funding additional programs to enhance the public relations profession and the professional in the Inland Empire. The event is $55 for PRSA-CIEC members and $65 for non-members/guests. Payment may be made by check, money or purchase order made payable and mailed to: Public Relations Society of America, P.O.
