Petersen, who describes himself as a "product of PR," will discuss how public relations helped mold his career and how it shapes the image of other child actors.

Petersen started as one of the original Mousketeers on Walt Disney's "Mickey Mouse Mickey Mouse

Show" became his identifying claim to fame. The show ran from 1958 through 1966 as Petersen went from a child to a young adult. After growing up before the public's eyes, Petersen experienced the worst side of playing the same young-star role for so many years. He learned a Hollywood lesson: One day he was everyone's darling; and the next day no one wanted to know his name. Petersen survived this experience, while many of his contemporaries did not. What he learned along the way made Petersen an advocate for protecting child actors and he formed A Minor Consideration, an organization assisting child actors and their parents against the pressures of the entertainment industry.

In addition to his television career, Petersen has co-starred in movies, recorded successful pop songs and has written several adventure novels.
