) has been used by thousands of developers since its debut in July 2002 to create interactive agents for enterprise applications like human resources The fancy word for "people." The human resources department within an organization, years ago known as the "personnel department," manages the administrative aspects of the employees.  self-service and knowledge-base access, and marketing and promotions. Because ActiveBuddy-powered interactive agents are compatible with any text messaging environment, including public Instant Messaging Exchanging text messages in real time between two or more people logged into a particular instant messaging (IM) service. Instant messaging is more interactive than e-mail because messages are sent immediately, whereas e-mail messages can be queued up in a mail server for seconds or  services, enterprise IM, web chat, and wireless messaging, they are an excellent choice for delivering information and services to desktop and wireless users alike throughout the enterprise.

ActiveBuddy chief technology officer, Timothy Kay, will create an interactive agent using the BuddyScript SDK and deploy it to wireless users in the audience with WAP, SMS, and RIM within six minutes. WADE's connectivity options allow developers to immediately test their interactive agent applications on a full spectrum of wireless devices, requiring the developer to have access to only basic Internet connectivity. WADE combines an enhanced version of the BuddyScript SDK with ActiveBuddy's menu of wireless connectivity options to deliver a complete solution for prototyping, testing, and deploying applications to wireless users.

"ActiveBuddy is making it very easy for enterprise customers to deliver wireless applications," stated Chris Shipley, executive producer, DEMO Conferences. "This new product combines conversational application development with convenient wireless access so that corporate developers can deliver the applications to make wireless workers most productive."

Corporations have identified an urgent need to service mobile employees and customers as evidenced by well-funded forays by the brokerage, shipping, and consumer products companies into wireless applications. WADE supports all cell phones and PDAs through WAP, SMS, and email, providing compatibility with a corporation's existing fleet of devices and does not require a company to retrofit staff with devices and calling plans.

"The current generation of wireless devices and services provide an excellent platform for applications delivery through ActiveBuddy's interactive agent technology," stated Timothy Kay, ActiveBuddy chief technology officer. "Even on the smallest form-factor devices, I am excited by the usability of interactive agents delivered via WAP, SMS, MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service) An enhanced transmission service that enables graphics, video clips and sound files to be transmitted via cellphones. Developed as part of the 3GPP project, MMS phones are generally backward compatible with SMS and EMS. , email, and RIM protocols, making it possible for developers to deploy their applications on wireless devices in a matter of hours rather than months."
