Active component analysis.

Pharmaceutical technologists are predominantly occupied with the production of various dosage forms, such as tablets, pastilles or dragees, to which the desired active pharmaceutical ingredients are added. To verify that that the desired amounts of pharmaceutical ingredients were added to the product--for quality management--an element analysis is performed wherein the tablet is pulverized. With the Fritsch Pulverisette 2 mortar mill, 10-20 tablets can be ground at once, ensuring that no ingredients are affected by the application of energy: the grinding action of the pestle does not increase the temperature during the process. The ingredients remain unchanged and, after a grinding duration of 1-5 minutes, a homogenous powder with a particle size of <100 [micro]m is obtained. We recommend grinding sets that are made of agate or hard porcelain. Even dragees or coated tablets may be ground, but here, sometimes, the coating is not ground perfectly (www.fritsch.de).
