SAINT-LAMBERT, Quebec--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 1, 1996--ORIENT RESOURCES INC.(ME: ORR ) At the request of the Montreal Exchange, the management of Orient Resources Inc. wishes to update its activities that could explain the important volume of activity on its stock on Monday September 30, 1996 (volume of 840 823 shares, closing at $0.20).

The company is completing a trenching and sampling program on its "PANACHE" property located in Carpiquet Township, near the Barry gold project of Murgor Resources. No result is available at the moment and the program should be completed in early November. The company will file an Offering Memorandum of $300,000 in order to increase drilling on the Panache property by $105,000 and to complete a $150,000 program on the Urban-Barry property, located in the same area and held in joint venture with Consolidated Oasis Resources Inc. Furthermore, the company is looking forward to materialize its involvement in West Africa, together with Oxford Resources, in accordance with the company's strategic development plan, as described in the 1996 Annual Report.

At the knowledge of the company no other important fact could have justified the volume of activity on its stock.
