ActiveWorks Cambio Adapter to Provide Fast, Easy

eBusiness Integration for Telecommunications Firms

Active Software, Inc. (Nasdaq:ASWX), a leading provider of eBusiness integration software products, and Cambio, a global leader of network inventory and management software, today announced a strategic partnership to help the solve the complex problem of telecommunications eBusiness integration.

Under terms of the agreement, Active Software and Cambio will work together to develop an ActiveWorks(TM) Adapter for the Cambio netRunner(TM) application and deliver rapid eBusiness integration solutions between netRunner and other enterprise applications. The Active Software and Cambio partnership will enable customers in the telecommunications industry to quickly solve their diverse enterprise, BSS (Business Support Systems), OSS (Operations Support Systems), and integration requirements, achieving an unprecedented increase in integration productivity, service delivery capabilities, and customer responsiveness.

ActiveWorks 4.0 provides an easy-to-use platform for Cambio customers to develop the complex InterActions required in the telecommunication business and deliver fast results. Using the ActiveWorks Visual Integrator, netRunner Adapter, and other Intelligent Adapters, customers can easily build and reuse InterActions which link their sales, customer care, financial, billing, network-facing and other enterprise applications with their Cambio netRunner Inventory, Circuit Design and Assign, and Network Configuration applications.

This will allow customers to implement an eBusiness integration solution that can execute cross-application business processes electronically, such as order processing, customer account updates, product inventory updates and others, allowing businesses to respond more quickly and eliminating the potential for error.

Active Software/Cambio Partnership

Under the terms of the agreement, Cambio will develop and ship an ActiveWorks Adapter for the Cambio netRunner application suite. The Cambio netRunner Adapter will be an Intelligent Adapter designed to take advantage of all the bold new features of the ActiveWorks Integration System Release 4.0.

In addition, the two companies will cooperatively market and sell the eBusiness integration solution which combines the Cambio netRunner Adapter, ActiveWorks Release 4.0, and Cambio netRunner application suite, and ensure the successful delivery of these solutions for customer deployments. The Cambio netRunner Adapter is expected to be available from Cambio in Q2 of 2000.

netRunner is designed to directly improve the telecommunication's time to service metrics. Its end to end network modeling capabilities, ease of operations, bandwidth management, provisioning, and field operations allows users and managers to streamline workflow and manage network information accurately, assisting them in enhancing their capital utilization.

netRunner integrates to other applications such as Hewlett Packard's OpenView Communications (OVC)/Service Assurance and OEMF. It runs on Windows 95/98 or Windows NT operating systems and supports an industry standard relational database running on Windows or UNIX environments.

ActiveWorks 4.0 is the only eBusiness solution of its kind to offer a flexible, scalable and reusable platform that enables customers to quickly become eBusinesses by linking their front-office, back-office, supply chain and eCommerce operations.
