ActionTec Announces Family of V.90 56K Modems; V.90/K56flex Family Includes ISA, PCI, and PC Card Modems.


SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 5, 1998--ActionTec Electronics, a leading manufacturer of data communications data communications, application of telecommunications technology to the problem of transmitting data, especially to, from, or between computers. In popular usage, it is said that data communications make it possible for one computer to "talk" with another.  and wireless products, announced today a complete family of V.90/K56flex* modems for desktop and mobile computers. The four modems are:

DataLink(TM) V.90/K56flex PCMCIA (Personal Computer Memory Card International Association, San Jose, CA, www.pcmcia.org) An international standards body and trade association that was founded in 1989 to establish a standard for connecting peripherals to portable computers. Comprehensive diagnostic modes including analog loop, digital loop, remote digital loop, and pattern tests ensure reliable operation for all of the modems.

Supporting even the most sophisticated high speed data communication needs, the modems operate at up to 56 Kbps, and combine MNP (Microcom Networking Protocol) A family of communications protocols from Microcom, Inc., Norwood, MA, that have become de facto standards for error correction (classes 2 through 4) and data compression (class 5).
