A wide range of improvements will be introduced as part of the Tyne Tyne (tīn), river, c.62 mi (100 km) long, NE England, formed near Hexham, Northumberland, by the confluence of the North Tyne (33 mi/53 km long; rising in SW Cheviot Hills) and the South Tyne (32 mi/52 km long; rising in the N Pennines).  Rivers Trust action plan.

These include improving habitat and biodiversity biodiversity: see biological diversity.

The Trust will co-ordinate and provide equipment for clean-up sessions by volunteers. It will also work with teachers and research groups on curriculum-linked schemes and risk assessments for schools.

They also want to set up a computer-based map of the Tyne, to include information provided by the Environment Agency as well as information gathered from its river watch scheme.
