Action Technologies to support Workflow Coalition API; founding member to support standard in its ActionWorkflow System.

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 14, 1995--WORKFLOW '95/ Action Technologies, Inc., the leader in business process and workflow automation software, today announced that the ActionWorkflow System will support the Workflow Management Coalition's proposed standard, the workflow client application programming interface (API).

The Workflow Management Coalition, a non-profit international organization of workflow vendors, customers and analysts, expects to release a final draft of the workflow standard in November. Action is a founder of the Workflow Management Coalition and a leader in the development of the new standard.

The workflow client API will provide a standard means of communication between workflow engines and workflow client applications. The standard is being developed to give customers more flexibility in implementing workflow technology. Application developers will be able to write their business applications to one API to support the ActionWorkflow System or any standards-compliant workflow platform. This will allow businesses to optimize their enterprise applications for the workflow standard, simplifying workflow deployment across the enterprise.
