Action Performance Announces E-Commerce Results; Online Orders Fueled by Successful SpeedMall Launch.


PHOENIX--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 6, 1999--Action Performance Companies Inc. (Nasdaq/NMS:ACTN ACTN Action

) Tuesday announced that within eight weeks after the Feb. 1 grand opening of SpeedMall, a motorsports-related virtual online shopping mall located through the company's www.goracing.com Web site, online orders reached $3.0 million.

During the first quarter of fiscal 1999, Action acquired the goracing.com site through a merger between the company's wholly-owned subsidiary Action Interactive Inc. and Tech 2000 Worldwide Inc. Action's newly acquired Webmasters enhanced the site's design and content, adding SpeedMall and the goracing.com community to its list of features.

Implementation of these features and an aggressive marketing campaign dramatically increased the average number of hits received on the site from 12 million per month prior to the grand opening to a total of 120 million hits during February and March, averaging approximately 60 million hits per month. The Web site now attracts more than 500,000 unique users per week.
