Action Labor Sees Significant Boost In Revenue From Acquisition Of West Eagle Job-Net.

Action Labor & Staffing Connection, a provider of temporary staffing for diverse industries that include construction, service and hospitality, maintenance and landscaping, announced that it has completed the acquisition of North Carolina-based West Eagle Job-Net.

West Eagle Job-Net, with eight branch offices located throughout North Carolina, will now operate as Staffing Connection, a division of Action Labor, and will provide semi-skilled and skilled temporary staffing services for clients primarily in the manufacturing and warehouse industries.

"The opportunity to make this acquisition came at a time when I was looking to expand the business and strengthen our foothold in key markets," said Karen Hoover, President and CEO of Action Labor & Staffing Connection. Hoover estimates that with the acquisition, the company's total revenue will increase from about $28 million to about $48 million annually. And Hoover sees significant growth opportunities ahead. "With many companies looking to do more with less, our staffing solutions allow them to add personnel on an as-needed basis and meet demand for their own services, but without the burden and associated costs of hiring full-time staff," Hoover added.

Hoover, born and raised in Florida, founded Action Labor in Gainesville in 1986. Today, with its corporate headquarters in West Palm Beach, it has 32 branch offices located throughout Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and Puerto Rico. A total of 140 full-time employees staff the branch offices and oversee thousands of temporary staff.

Hoover, who is trained in the medical field as an x-ray and diagnostic technician, developed Action Labor & Staffing Connection after her own experiences as a temporary employee. "After moving to Phoenix, Arizona, I walked into a nursing agency looking for temporary work," noted Hoover. "At that time I was told that they did not provide any temporary assignments in my skill area, only for nurses. But a week later they called me and then kept me busy in per-diem positions for five years."

Hoover said she liked the freedom of working as a temporary employee. When she moved back to Florida, she sought temporary positions on her own and found that she could not fill all of the jobs which were being offered to her. This prompted her to found MedPro Temps in 1983. By 1986, Hoover realized there was also a great opportunity for temporary staffing in the construction industry. She founded Action Labor & Staffing Connection in 1986 and ran both companies until 1995, when she sold MedPro Temps in order to concentrate solely on building Action Labor & Staffing Connection and its niche in the marketplace.
