Action Engine Mobile Application Platform Automates Delivery of Rich Online Content for Mobile Devices; Scheduling Services Extends Platform's Lead over Browser-based Systems.

REDMOND, Wash. -- Shattering the mobile usability barrier, Action Engine Corporation, the mobile application platform leader, today announced that users can now automatically access news, weather, sports, and other online content from their intelligent mobile devices. With Scheduling Services for the Action Engine Mobile Application Platform(TM), Action Engine has extended its usability lead over browser-based systems by making it even easier and faster for mobile users to access online content.

The Action Engine Mobile Application Platform introduces a browserless, client/server approach to accessing transaction-oriented online services that takes 80% fewer keystrokes and drives 20x faster response times than browser-based alternatives. To view a diagram of the Action Engine Mobile Application Platform, please see www.actionengine.com/images/diagram.gif.

Now with Scheduling Services, subscribers get timely, constantly changing data services content, such as news and weather, automatically delivered to their smart mobile devices on a pre-defined basis. Instead of going online to access and pull content each time they want it, users can set up a delivery schedule once and let the Action Engine Mobile Application Platform automatically push data down to their devices.

"We make advanced data services easy to use. That's our mission in life," said Ted Wugofski, CTO (Chief Technical Officer) The executive responsible for the technical direction of an organization. See CIO and salary survey.  at Action Engine. "Scheduling Services simplifies access to the dynamic content subscribers want to see on a regular basis. In turn, that simplicity will drive increased usage of those data services as users, who might otherwise forget or forego pulling data, will get it automatically delivered to them."

Platform Sets the Standard for Usability

Scheduling Services is the latest addition to the breakthrough Action Engine Mobile Application Platform. Representing over 80 man-years in research and development and 28 patent-pending technologies, the Action Engine Mobile Application Platform uses an open, browserless client/server architecture An environment in which the application processing is divided between client workstations and servers. It implies the use of desktop computers interacting with servers in a network in contrast to processing everything in a large centralized mainframe. See client/server.  to enable intuitive and easy-to-use mobile applications that offer unsurpassed responsiveness and personalization Custom tailoring information to the individual. On the Web, personalization means returning a page that has been customized for the user, taking into consideration that person's habits and preferences. . By delivering a superior alternative to the browser-based application model currently dominating the market, the Action Engine Mobile Application Platform fulfills the usability vision promised by the Mobile Data Services Architecture (MDSA MDSA Musical Dog Sport Association

) for complex, query-based mobile applications that are keystroke- and network-intensive, such as shopping, dining, and mapping.

Here is how it works:

Action Engine Client - Running on the smart mobile device, the Action Engine Client harnesses the device's processing power to:

--access content using 80 percent fewer keystrokes

--share data across applications

--deliver response time 20 times faster than browser-based technology

--improve user's offline access to data

--remember user preferences for a high degree of personalization

The Platform's robust client technology enables a far more effective means of creating content requests, sending those requests to the network, and working with the rich content that is returned to the device.

Persistent local storage on the client is key to creating unsurpassed usability. The client caches application content on local, device-based XML databases A database that stores XML documents. There are two types. The first is the "XML-enabled database," which is a relational or object-oriented database that has been extended to hold XML data. . This includes content from contact managers, calendars, and other device functions, as well as content accessed from online data services. By intelligently leveraging these local databases, Action Engine opens the doors to superior data access, both online and off.

The databases let users create sophisticated, multi-part queries offline with applications that use step-by-step, question and answer screens to walk them through the process. With more personalization than browser-based technology, applications running on the Action Engine Platform can pull the cached content for remembering user favorites, share and reuse reuse - Using code developed for one application program in another application.  of a query can be changed without starting the entire request over from scratch. Finally, the user decides when to send the request to the network.

The client's offline, list-driven query creation accelerates application responsiveness by compiling complete requests with just a few keystrokes and exposing users to fewer network round-trips. Unlike browser-based technologies, Action Engine's reduced reliance on the network allows the Platform to resume a user's request from the point it left off even if the connection drops. Action Engine Server - The central processing system of the Action Engine Mobile Application Platform is the Action Engine Server. Optimized to manage the compound, multi-part queries generated by the Action Engine Client, the Server rapidly delivers the text, graphics, audio, and visual data found in today's sophisticated mobile data services.

To that end, the Action Engine Server employs a fast and creative queuing mechanism to parse the client's multi-part requests and then prioritize pri·or·i·tize
