This feature saves time for field technicians because they can access the information they need to perform tests without having to wait for NOC (Network Operations Center) A central or regional location for monitoring a large network. Also called a "network management center" (NMC), "service management center" (SMC) or "network control center" (NCC), a NOC may be used to manage a large enterprise network,  personnel for assistance.

Technicians can employ another time saving feature, customized test scripts, to easily and efficiently step through specific test sequences.

Bluetooth Technology Offers Convenience

Bluetooth technology allows technicians to control the test set through a wireless connection from a distance of up to 50 feet. By using a Bluetooth-compatible laptop, technicians can conveniently conduct tests from a well-lit location or service vehicle, rather than inside a utility closet or atop a utility pole A utility pole, telegraph pole, telephone pole, power pole, or telegraph post is a post or pole upon which telecommunication network equipment is situated. .

"In today's economic environment, service providers need solutions that not only address technology challenges, but also improve the installation and maintenance process," said Jerry Gentile, vice president of marketing, access networks. "The connectivity and Web enabled features of the new Acterna TestPad platform allow these providers to optimize workflow processes and overall efficiency, which results in more installations per day, as well as reduced repeat-repair rates, reduced mean time to repair, and higher quality of service."

The Acterna FST-2000 TestPad will be showcased with a variety of new broadband networking solutions at Supercomm in Atlanta, June 4-6, at Acterna booth 23246.
