Actelis Networks(TM), the first company to enable fiber-quality transport services The collective functions of layers 1 through 4 of the OSI model.  over local loop copper, today announced that its MetaLIGHT(R) product has completed the Telcordia(TM) OSMINE (Operations Systems Modification of Intelligent Network Elements) A system from Telcordia for verifying compatibility with Telcordia-designed operating systems.  Services process. OSMINE helps enable network equipment (NE) compatibility and interoperability with Telcordia OSSs. As a recognizable Network Element (NE), the MetaLIGHT system will now operate in the networks of service providers who have deployed the Telcordia TIRKS System and the Telcordia NMA System, including many major carriers

Editors note: see press release Actelis Networks MetaLIGHT Product Passes Important Milestone in Telcordia OSMINE Services Process - dated May 14, 2002 for additional information.

The Actelis MetaLIGHT is a high-speed, symmetrical, point-to-point transport system, which eliminates the last-mile bandwidth bottleneck by transforming the existing copper loop into a fiber-quality broadband transport reaching distances to 18,000 feet and beyond. Actelis' product is based on its patented MetaLOOP(TM) technology that optimizes transmission over multiple copper pairs, while complying with established telecom standards. The MetaLIGHT can be deployed within hours, with no need to trench for fiber, for a faster time to guaranteed service revenue at significantly lower cost.

"Completing the OSMINE process for Actelis' MetaLIGHT product is critical to helping our incumbent carrier See ILEC.  customers deploy our equipment in their networks," said Yossi Saad, vice president, product marketing, Actelis Networks Inc. "Large carriers that depend on Telcordia support for cost-effective Operations, Administration, Maintenance and Provisioning (OAM&P) of their networks will be able to deploy Actelis products with their Telcordia TIRKS and NMA systems with minimal investment in planning and craft time."

"Investment in the OSMINE process is a key step for any company that wants to sell to the large U.S. carriers," said Ron Westfall, Principal Analyst, Current Analysis. "Actelis can now carry its value proposition directly to its target customers knowing that the product can be easily incorporated into their network planning processes."

About MetaLOOP technology

MetaLoop technology combines Spatial Division Multiplexing, advanced bandwidth management Controlling the traffic flow in a network. See bandwidth manager. , proprietary noise cancellation (1) The elimination of unwanted signals in an electronic circuit. See noise and dynamic noise reduction.

algorithms and sophisticated error correction techniques to transform multiple copper pairs into a reliable, high-speed transport system. MetaLoop carries scalable, symmetrical bandwidth at speeds previously limited to fiber optics fiber optics, transmission of digitized messages or information by light pulses along hair-thin glass fibers. Each fiber is surrounded by a cladding having a high index of refractance so that the light is internally reflected and travels the length of the fiber , and with the maximum possible reach, while complying with established international spectral compatibility standards. About Actelis Networks

Actelis Networks is the first company to enable fiber quality transport over local loop copper. By radically boosting the speed, range, and reliability of copper to achieve fiber performance in the local loop, Actelis allows carriers to deliver bandwidth today to points further from the core of the network without further cabling investment. Founded in 1998 and headquartered in the Silicon Valley, Actelis Networks is backed by preeminent telecom investors, including New Enterprise Associates, The Walden International Investment Group, U.S. Venture Partners and The Carlyle Group The of this article or section may be compromised by "weasel words".
