Actel Appoints Phil Wood as European Marketing Manager.

SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 21, 1998--Actel Corp. (Nasdaq:ACTL) announced today the appointment of Philip Wood as European marketing manager, who will reside in Actel's UK office.

In this role, Wood will be responsible for promoting Actel's programmable logic devices throughout Europe. Wood will report to Clive Jones, director marketing communications, in the company's Sunnyvale headquarters.

"The vast amount of experience that Phil has in the high-technology industry provides him with a strong background to successfully manage our marketing activities in Europe," said Jones. Prior to joining Actel, Wood was a marketing consultant at Hughes Olivetti Telecom in Milton Keynes, UK. Wood was also European marketing communications manager for Sun Microelectronics in Bagshot, Surrey, UK, where he was responsible for all aspects of marketing communications in the European region. In co-operation with U.S. corporate marketing associates, Wood was a key player in promoting the RISC and JAVA processor markets in Europe.

In addition, Wood was marketing communications manager at Mitsubishi Electric Ltd., Hatfield, UK, where he helped to achieve corporate objectives within Europe for the company's computer peripheral division. Wood also has marketing experience from Hitachi Europe Ltd. in Europe and National Semiconductor, Ltd. in the UK.

Wood has a Bachelor of Arts degree in marketing and engineering from the University of Huddersfield, UK. About Actel
