Acta Technology Appoints Dan Fairfax Chief Financial Officer.

Impressive Management Team

Acta Technology, Inc., a leading provider of data warehousing solutions for ERP applications, announced today it has rounded out its senior management team with the appointment of Dan Fairfax to the position of vice president and chief financial officer. Fairfax will report to Acta President and CEO Carol Mills Baldwin, who joined Acta in July 1997 from Hewlett-Packard Company.

Fairfax brings extensive experience to Acta in the area of corporate finance, including equity and debt financing and strategic business acquisition. Prior to joining Acta, Fairfax was vice president and chief financial officer for NeoVista Software, a provider of intelligent data mining solutions. While at NeoVista, Fairfax secured initial and follow-on venture funding and was responsible for finance and administration, legal, business development, license negotiation and human resources.

Prior to NeoVista, Fairfax was vice president and chief financial officer for MasPar Computer Corporation, a developer of massively parallel processing (MPP) systems. In addition, during his six years at Siemens Corporation's Rofin-Sinar Laser Group Fairfax held the positions of senior vice president, general manager US operations and vice president, chief financial officer.

Acta also announced that Jason Chen, formerly Acta's director of SAP and PeopleSoft integration, has been promoted to vice president of engineering. Prior to joining Acta, Chen spent three years at Sybase where he last served as architect for SQL Server 11.5, the version that incorporated parallel processing capabilities into SQL Server. Prior to that, Chen spent five years with Teradata Corporation in various leadership and technical advisory roles, and also worked with AT&T Bell Labs. Chen received his Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from the University of Southern California.

In a related move, company co-founder Alex Gorelik, who has been holding the dual positions of both vice president of engineering and chief technology officer, will now assume the CTO duties full time. Gorelik was manager of Sybase, Inc.'s highly successful data movement software, Sybase Replication Server before co-founding Acta.
