THE article by Eryl Crump about Yr Ysgwrn, Trawsfynydd, the home of the well known poet and icon Hedd Wyn Hedd Wyn (13 January 1887–31 July 1917) was a Merionethshire farmer and poet of World War I. Born Ellis Humphrey Evans, the eldest of eleven children of Evan and Mary Evans, he used the Bardic name Hedd Wyn, Welsh for "white peace".  killed in the First World War was informative and of great interest (Daily Post Cymraeg July 29 "Yr Ysgwrn - Dyfodol Du").

The negative factor is that no steps have been taken to secure the future of Yr Ysgwrn and the Bardic Chairs by establishing financial support by a responsible body.

Contests traditionally are held in all the arts and crafts, with special emphasis on music and poetry.  is held next week in Hedd Wyn's native Merioneth. Let us hope the spark will be lit and action taken to ensure the future of Yr Ysgwrn.
