Acsis, Inc., a global provider of data collection enabling products and supply chain execution solutions, focused in SAP R/3(R), announced a suite of enhancements to SAP's SAPConsole(TM) offerings at the ASUG (Americas' SAP Users' Group) Conference and Vendor Fair.

SAPConsole, wireless technology in SAP's Logistics Execution System (LES), provides a framework for automatic data collection in warehouse management, plant maintenance, quality management, and shop floor environments. It translates GUI (Graphical User Interface) screens to the character-based screens used on a wide variety of data collection devices. SAPConsole allows workers in warehouses and distribution centers to record transactions on mobile data capture devices and then transmit the data back to the SAP system.

Another significant SAPConsole enhancement is Acsis' ability to integrate mission-critical transactions into the data collection environment through the Business Continuity Engine, which is designed for transactions that require 24x7 availability. The Business Continuity Engine (BCE) allows a user to have a seamless interface to both SAPConsole and BCE transactions, through a single menu.

Acsis also announced SAPConsole for PocketPC 2002, an enhancement that allows for the use of PocketPC data collection devices in the SAPConsole environment. Taking full advantage of the PocketPC platform's power, it provides a familiar GUI look and feel, including color, and is compatible with the industry and SAP-stated direction utilizing the Windows CE mobile computing platform.

Enhanced barcode printing for SAPConsole will allow users to take advantage of rapid development tools to create barcode labels and print them through either the local server or the SAP printing subsystem. An enhanced input/output engine will allow data from scales, programmable logic controllers, and other data collection subsystems to be integrated into SAP through either SAPConsole or the BCE, further integrating the shop floor and eliminating costly interfaces while driving down the total cost of ownership.
