Acrodyne Receives $1.7M Turnkey Order for a 50kW DTV "New Technology" Transmitter, Antenna, Transmission Line, and Systems Integration, including Tower Services.


BLUE BELL, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 4, 1999--

Acrodyne Industries, Inc., a leading manufacturer and installer of television transmission systems, today announced the signing of a contract with Sinclair Broadcast Group The Sinclair Broadcast Group (SBG) NASDAQ: SBGI is the operator of the largest number of local television stations in the United States with a total of 59 stations across the country in 38 primarily small and medium markets, many of which are located in the South and , for a complete turnkey system to be installed at KDNL-DT (ABC ABC

The turnkey package includes a 50kW DTV (Digital TeleVision) Transmitting TV using digital signals. The major DTV standards are ATSC (North America), DVB (Europe) and ISDB (Japan). All three use MPEG-2 video compression and Dolby Digital audio compression. DVB and ISDB also include MPEG audio compression.  "New Technology" transmitter, antenna, and tower services. Acrodyne will act as the turnkey contractor and manage the entire design and installation of the transmission facility. This project further expands Acrodyne's full system support activities. Installation is scheduled for Summer of 2000.
