Acquisitions heat up, Pearson looks to sell FTE.

) group with its newsletters, information services See Information Systems.  and databases for a price that will probably exceed $125 million heads the acquisition parade during the last quarter of this year.

Other large and small newsletter and information properties are being acquired (see articles at left and on pp. 3, 4 and 5), but the biggest deal is expected to be the sale of FTE, which has annual revenues of about $50 million.

The London-based international media giant Pearson PLC has decided to pull the plug on its wholly owned subsidiary Wholly Owned Subsidiary

* Reuters, the news and information service which just a year ago signed a co-publishing deal with Pearson Education Pearson Education is an international publisher of textbooks and other educational material, such as multimedia learning tools. Pearson Education is part of Pearson PLC. It is headquartered in Upper Saddle River, New Jersey.  

* The equity affiliate of Veronis Suhler & Associates, which recently purchased the Hart Energy Group and also publishes Chemical Week.

* Information Handling Services, a publisher of information databases, headquartered in Englewood, Colorado.

Meanwhile, it was learned that the sale of Phillips Business Information, the b-to-b division of Phillips International Inc., which was announced last month, has been completed. The newsletters and information products of PBI PBI protein-bound iodine.
