), acquired Baldwin & Whitney, one of the oldest and largest independent insurance agencies in the Midwest. The acquisition doubles the size of Acordia's operations in Dayton, Ohio Dayton is a city in southwestern Ohio, United States. It is the county seat and largest city of Montgomery County. As of the 2005 census estimate, the population of Dayton was 158,873. .

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. The acquisition, completed May 1, 2004, is Acordia's 14th since it became a part of Wells Fargo three years ago.

Baldwin & Whitney has served clients since 1881, and the agency's professional staff will continue serving clients from its current location.

Baldwin & Whitney offers clients a complete array of services including commercial property & casualty insurance, personal insurance, professional liability insurance, employment practices liability insurance, aircraft insurance, life insurance, health insurance, annuities, mutual funds and employee benefits.
