Acorda Therapeutics Announces Addition to Board of Directors.


HAWTHORNE, N.Y. -- Acorda Therapeutics(R) announced today that Steven M. Rauscher, President and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  of Oscient Pharmaceuticals, has been elected to the Acorda Board of Directors.

Mr. Rauscher joined Oscient Pharmaceuticals in 2000. In 2004, Oscient launched FACTIVE(R) (gemifloxacin mesylate) tablets for the treatment of acute bacterial exacerbations of chronic bronchitis and community-acquired pneumonia of mild to moderate severity. Prior to joining Oscient, he spent 18 years at Abbott Laboratories in various leadership positions including Vice President of Corporate Licensing; Vice President of Business Development, International Division; and Vice President of Sales, U.S. Pharmaceuticals. Mr. Rauscher holds an MBA from the University of Chicago and received his BS from Indiana University.
