Acopia Networks Names Tom Sweeney as Vice President Of Engineering; EMC Veteran to Lead Acopia's Rapidly Expanding Development Team.


LOWELL, Mass. -- Acopia Networks(R), the pioneer of Adaptive Resource Networking, announced today the appointment of Tom Sweeney to the position of Vice President of Engineering. Previously EMC's Senior Director of Engineering for PowerPath, in this new role Mr. Sweeney Mr. Sweeney (played by Don Creech) is Ned and Moze's evil science teacher in Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide, whose character has been toned down a bit since season one. He treats his students rather harshly, and many consider him insane.  will lead the development of Acopia's ARX(R) family of Adaptive Resource Switches, and oversee the continuing technical advancement of the company's software and hardware engineering efforts.

During his 24 year career, Mr. Sweeney has held a variety of executive engineering positions at enterprise storage companies, managing teams responsible for software and hardware product development, qualification and integration. Prior to PowerPath, Mr. Sweeney was Senior Director of Interoperability in EMC's eLab, the fibre channel storage industry's leading integration and qualification facility for SAN products.

He also spent 14 years in the defense industry managing mission critical software and hardware programs for various companies including Hughes Aircraft Hughes Aircraft Company was a major aerospace and defense company founded by Howard Hughes. Hughes Aircraft was acquired by General Motors in 1985.
