LONG BEACH, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 18, 1998--ACOM Computer Inc., an international leader in developing and marketing MICR laser- based secure check-disbursement systems, has begun offering pressure- activated self-mailing equipment as part of its total solution for businesses and institutions of all types and sizes, it was announced Wednesday by Jim Scott, vice president-sales and marketing.

Initially, two models of folder/inserter/autosealer equipment will be available, Scott said, ranging in price from as low as $5,500 to about $10,000, depending on speed, capabilities and options.

Model AutoSeal FD2050 is preprogrammed for the C-fold, Z-fold and half-fold, and operators can manually set the machine for custom folds. Its variable speed control accommodates from 300 to 11,000 pieces per hour of dial-selectable legal, letter and A4 (international-size) documents, with a hopper capacity of 350 sheets of 24-pound stock.

Paper jams trigger an automatic stop, and a built-in static eliminator prevents the accumulation of static electricity. Accurate count of all documents folded is maintained by a four-digit counter. Options include a conveyor, a stand and a folder for 17-inch documents.

Model AutoSeal FD 2010 is a fixed-speed device that processes up to 5,000 ready-to-mail documents per hour, with a hopper capacity of 75 sheets of 24-pound stock. It features easily an adjustable dial with quick-set points for setting all standard folds (Z-, C- and half- fold), as well as customized folds.

It handles media ranging from 6- to 12-inch lengths, from 5.75- to 8.5-inch widths and paper weights from 20- to 28-pound bond. Fully enclosed fold tables reduce noise by dampening the sound of paper hitting the paper stops.
