) announced today that it will close its Bridgeport facility on Sept. 6, 1996.

The 153,000 square foot plant at 100 Hicks Street had been manufacturing and distributing shears, scissors, rulers and related consumer products for the past 129 years since the company's inception. The consolidation of manufacturing operations from Bridgeport to Acme's Fremont, North Carolina Fremont is a town in Wayne County, North Carolina, United States.
