Cutting instrument or tool consisting of a pair of opposed metal blades that meet and cut when the handles at their ends are brought together. Modern scissors are of two types: the more usual pivoted blades have a rivet or screw connection between the cutting ends
 and other cutting tools. Entitled "Coating for Cutting Implements," the patent is the first to issue in a series of pending patent applications for Acme's related cutting technologies. This growing segment of Acme United's patent portfolio includes applications pending in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and the European Patent Office. Yesterday, Acme filed three additional related U.S. patent applications. Acme United is exploring opportunities to license the technology to partners in non-competing industries.

The Company is filing an application for registration of this trade dress with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
