Acme Supermarket in Plainfield to undergo renovations. (New Jersey).

The 25,500-SF building constructed for Acme Supermarket more than three decades ago at 917 Route 22 in North Plainfield, N.J., is coming into the 2lst century.

Levin Management Corporation, managing and leasing agent for the building at the Grove Street intersection, has announced that the property will be updated to coincide with its upcoming retenanting.

"Mirroring a trend among grocery tenants industry wide, Acme's store profile today involves much larger properties than 917 Route 22," noted David Silver, Levin's corporate director of marketing. "The company has closed a number of its smaller locations, and, while we are sorry to lose such a valued tenant, the change provides us with an opportunity to improve and modernize the building."

According to Silver, the freestanding structure occupies one of the area's most desirable retail sites.

"The Route 22/Grove Street intersection enjoys a daily traffic count of 65,000 cars," he said.

"In addition, the location services a population of 225,000 within a five-mile radius; with an average household income of more than $96,000."

"The factors combine to create a highly desirable spot for a tenant looking for strong visibility along a bustling retail corridor," Silver added. "Ultimately, it will attract some exciting new retailers to service the community."
