Achilles Savas, 88.


MARLBOROUGH Achilles Savas, 88, of Marlborough died Tuesday (Dec. 16, 2008) at Marlborough Hospital after an illness.

He was the husband of the late Helen (Voutas) Savas who died in 1994.

He leaves his son Louis Savas and his wife April of Dudley and a daughter Dorothy van Lingen and her husband Theodore of Marlborough. Also leaves five grandchildren GRANDCHILDREN, domestic relations. The children of one's children. Sometimes these may claim bequests given in a will to children, though in general they can make no such claim. 6 Co. 16. ; Carol Osbourne, Claudine White, Theodore van Lingen Jr., Julie Savas and Natalie Savas and six great grandchildren. Brother of the late John and Charles Savas.

He was born in Marlborough, son of the late Savas and Triantifilia (Constantine) Karagianis and has lived in Marlborough all of his life.

He was a 1936 graduate of Marlborough High School and a U.S. Army Air Corp. veteran of WWII WWII

, serving with the 287th Bombardment Squadron and reaching the rank of Sgt.

He was a Quality Control Inspector for the U.S. Government for over 35 years at various locations in Central Mass retiring in 1978.

He was a lifetime member of SS Anargyroi Gree Orthodox Church in Marlborough, where he served on the parrish council form many years and was an altar boy for over 25 years.

He was a lifetime member of the Marlborough American Legion American Legion, national association of male and female war veterans, founded (1919) in Paris. Membership is open to veterans of World Wars I and II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. .

He enjoyed gardening both flowers and veggies Veggies of Nottingham, also known as Veggies Catering Campaign, is a campaigning group based in Nottingham, England, promoting ethicalbum alternatives to mainstream fast food. . An avid fisherman both salt and fresh water and he also played golf.

Funeral will be held at 9 A.M. Friday (Dec.19,2008) from the John P. Rowe Funeral Home, Inc. 57 Main St., Marlborough with services at 10 AM in SS Anargyroi Greek Orthodox Church Greek Orthodox Church

Independent Eastern Orthodox church of Greece. The term is sometimes used erroneously for Eastern Orthodoxy in general. It remained under the patriarch of Constantinople until 1833, when it became independent.

Calling hours at the funeral home are Thursday 4 til 7 P.M. Memorial donations may be made to the Building Fund for the new Fellowship Hall A fellowship hall is a large room in a church building where certain activities in the church building are done, such as certain dinners ,breakfasts, meetings,or workshops etc. It gets its name from the fact that the people there at the church building are giving fellowship.  at SS Anargyroi Greek Orthodox Church.
