Acetal Resists Biodiesel Fuels.

"Biodiesel" fuels now being used in Europe contain rape-seed methyl ether (Chem.) a light, volatile ether CH3.O.CH3, obtained by the etherification of methyl alcohol; - called also methyl oxide or dimethyl ether.

and are much more acidic than standard diesel fuels. High acidity makes them more reactive with acetal acetal /ac·e·tal/ (as´e-t'l)

and other plastics, especially at elevated temperatures. Therefore, Ticona of Summit, N.J., has introduced Hostaform C13031 XF acetal copolymer copolymer: see polymer. , which has improved chemical and impact resistance for sustained use in contact with biodiesel fuels at temperatures up to 212 F. The resin also boasts 40% higher elongation at break than previous grades. According to Ticona, this development ensures that auto makers will not have to switch from acetal to more costly resins such as PPS (Packets Per Second) The measurement of activity in a local area network (LAN). In LANs such as Ethernet, Token Ring and FDDI, as well as the Internet, data is broken up and transmitted in packets (frames), each with a source and destination address.  for fuel-system components.
