Acer Netxus Selects Ambient USB Modem Chipset.


FREMONT, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 29, 1999--

Ambient Technologies, Inc. announced today Acer Netxus, a communications company Communications Company is a communications unit of the United States Marine Corps. They are part of Combat Logistics Regiment 37 , 3rd Marine Logistics Group (3MLG) and III Marine Expeditionary Force (III MEF). The unit is based out of the Marine Corps Base Camp Smedley D.  within the Acer Group, has selected an Ambient chipset for use in a new USB modem A modem that plugs into the USB port of a computer. It typically refers to a V.92 analog modem, but might refer to a DSL modem. See USB, V.92 and DSL.  product.

The Ambient MD567X is a high performance, controller-based solution for V.90 USB modems. Drivers are available for both Windows(R) 95/98 and Mac OS 8.5 or higher. This software upgradable 56K USB modem chipset comes with a complete set of industry-standard features for data, fax, voice and video applications. It supports all requirements for PC-based communications-including Voice IS-101, Fax Class 1 and all industry-standard AT commands for data. It meets Microsoft(R) Windows(R) TAPI (Telephony API) A programming interface from Microsoft and Intel that is part of Microsoft's WOSA architecture. It allows Windows client applications to access voice services on a server.  standards and exceeds Microsoft(R) PC 98 specifications for Windows(R) and legacy applications
