Acer Computer International Ltd. to Include Iomega Zip Drive in Latest Aspire 5000 Series of Multimedia Computers.

) announced today that the 100MB Zip(TM) drive will be featured in select models of the Acer Computer International Ltd.'s award-winning Aspire(TM) series of home multimedia computers.

Acer's easy-to-use Aspire systems are targeted toward power and novice users, and the SOHO Soho (sōhō`, sə–), district of Westminster, London, England, known for its continental restaurants. Once a fashionable quarter, it became popular among writers and artists in the 19th cent.  market. The new range of Aspire 5000 series will be available in the Pacific and Asia regions beginning in January 1998. The inclusion of Iomega's Zip drive See Zip disk.

(hardware, storage) Zip Drive - A disk drive from Iomega Corporation which takes removable 100 megabyte hard disks. Both internal and external drives are manufactured, making the drive suitable for backup, mass storage or for moving files between computers.

Iomega's Zip drive is the new standard in high-capacity removable storage, with over 10 million drives shipped since its introduction in March of 1995. In addition, Iomega's 100MB Zip disks offer up to 20 times higher performance and 70 times the capacity of traditional floppy disks, giving customers the ability to digitally store, transport and manage electronic mail, digital audio clips and storage-intensive multimedia files.

The term initially referred to the company that made the products (the "original" manufacturer), but eventually became widely used to refer to the organization that buys the products and  business for Iomega Asia Pacific. "Acer's decision to incorporate the Zip drive into their Aspire line will help their customers fulfill their computing potential."

Iomega currently has agreements with top international PC vendors to include the Zip drive as a standard or optional feature in desktop systems from Apple, Compaq, Dell, Gateway, HP, IBM (International Business Machines Corporation, Armonk, NY, www.ibm.com) The world's largest computer company.
