Acer Completes Notebook Offering With Systems Designed For Business, On-The-Road Needs; Superior Flexibility And Power Highlight AcerNote Pro; AcerNote Light Is Full-Featured, Lightweight Solution For Mobile Users.

, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 6, 1995--Acer America Corp., the nation's ninth-largest PC manufacturer, today announced the release of two new notebook computers for the distribution and retail channels.

The two new notebooks -- the AcerNote Pro and the AcerNote Light -- offer complete solutions for today's mobile user.

Mobile Products for a Changing Environment

AcerNote Pro: Powerful Flexibility

Docking station capable, the AcerNote Pro is powerful enough to serve as a desktop in the office, yet flexible enough to stand up to a rigorous travel schedule. Built around the fast, capable 75 MHz (MegaHertZ) One million cycles per second. It is used to measure the transmission speed of electronic devices, including channels, buses and the computer's internal clock. A one-megahertz clock (1 MHz) means some number of bits (16, 32, 64, etc.  Intel Pentium processor, the AcerNote Pro is supplied with 8 MB expandable to 40 MB of RAM, and an externally removable 2.5-inch hard disk drive. AcerNote Light: Full-featured Portability

For those who want to leave the office desktop behind, the full-featured and lightweight portability of the AcerNote Light is an ideal solution for working on the road or at home. It's equipped with an Intel 486 DX4/75 MHz processor, and 8 MB expandable to 32 MB of RAM. With both an internal hard disk drive and a removable internal/external 1.44 MB 3.5" floppy disk drive floppy disk drive - disk drive , a built-in Type II PCMCIA Card slot, and an removable PCMCIA type III slot accessory module, the AcerNote Light truly has interchangeable functionality. Its modular construction allows users to outfit their machine for optimal results at home or on the road.

Full-featured, lightweight portability is a hallmark of the AcerNote Light notebook. The built-in floppy disk drive can be exchanged for either a PCMCIA Type III card See PC Card.  slot or an additional lithium ion battery pack. In turn, the floppy disk can function as an external drive with an optional connection through the parallel port. A primary Duracell NiMH battery and an optional secondary lithium ion battery give the AcerNote Light features extended battery life for optimal mobile use.

Other options include additional RAM modules, an external battery-charging holder, fax/data modem PCMCIA cards, Ethernet LAN adapter PCMCIA cards, a 17-key external numeric key pad, additional AC adapter, and additional NiMH battery. These options, combined with its lightweight portability, make the AcerNote Light a performer wherever it goes.

Pricing and Availability

Anticipated street prices for these new AcerNote notebooks will start from $2,399 for the AcerNote Light and from $2,999 for the AcerNote Pro. Both the AcerNote Pro and the AcerNote Light will be sold through Acer's nationwide network of value-added resellers and distributors, as well as leading retailers.
