Acer America Selects Sigma Designs' Zoomed Video Chipset for Latest Generation Multimedia Notebook Line; Selection for AcerNote Light Multimedia Shows Sigma's Leadership in ZV MPEG Market.

:SIGM), announced today that Acer America has selected Sigma's REALmagic Zoomed Video (ZV) chipset for its newest generation of notebook computers, AcerNote Light Multimedia.

The chipset will drive a new MPEG (Moving Pictures Experts Group) An ISO/ITU standard for compressing digital video. Pronounced "em-peg," it is the universal standard for digital terrestrial, cable and satellite TV, DVDs and digital video recorders (DVRs).  PCMCIA card See PC Card.  that will be marketed for the AcerNote Light Multimedia notebooks by Acer America. This card is one of the first full-featured MPEG playback cards especially designed for use in the latest series of multimedia notebooks.
