LEE McCULLOCH'S move to Rangers was thrashed out this morning after the Scotland star's agent agreed a deal at Murray Park.

The Wigan striker will put pen to paper on a three-year contract when he returns from international duty in Austria later this week.

It will complete a dream transfer for the former Motherwell player, 29, who has never hidden his desire to come back to Scottish football and pull on the colours of his boyhood heroes.

McCulloch's agent John Viola flew into Glasgow from his Dubai base to hold talks with Ibrox chief executive Martin Bain and complete the finer details of the agreement.

It's yet another indication of Gers boss Walter Smith's determination to recruit native talent into a squad for next season which he hopes will wrestle the SPL trophy from Old Firm rivals Celtic's grasp.

With Alan Gow and Kirk Broadfoot already signed along with Frenchman Jean-Claude Darcheville, the capture of McCulloch is a boost for Rangers who lost out on Scott Brown to Celtic.

McCulloch's versatility will be a huge benefit to Smith who used the player in both striking and midfield roles while on international duty.
