AccuSoft Corporation Announces New Releases of Industry-Leading ImageGear Toolkit with Added Support for Standards and Third-Party Products.

NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. -- ImageGear Professional Incorporates Support for PDF Editing, ISIS for Scanner Control from Captiva, and ScanSoft OmniPage OCR SDK; ImageGear MD Adds Support for DICOM Presentation State Objects

AccuSoft(R) Corporation, the leading provider of imaging technology and data and imaging analysis solutions, announced today comprehensive new releases of its award-winning ImageGear(R) Imaging Toolkit - ImageGear Professional, Version 14, and ImageGear MD, Version 14. Both products are available immediately through AccuSoft.

ImageGear Professional V14 features the introduction of content editing capabilities for Adobe(R) PDF files, in addition to enhanced document font support and text extraction for PDF files. For enhanced scanning functionality, full support of Captiva's Image and Scanner Interface Specification (ISIS(R)), the industry standard, enterprise-level interface that unites a universe of scanners and applications, has also been added. ImageGear's ISIS support will allow peak performance from every scanning device an organization might employ. Comprehensive support for the TWAIN 1.9 standard has also been added, further bolstering the product's robust support for scanning.

ImageGear Professional V14 also incorporates a range of functionality via the ScanSoft OmniPage Capture SDK, including a new scalable voting architecture that provides developers with two pre-made voting interfaces, along with direct access to three OCR engines. As a result, developers will be able to decrease development time and achieve market-leading accuracy for controlling scanning devices for the applications they create using ImageGear Professional. In addition, ImageGear Professional V14 incorporates optional support for ScanSoft's Intelligent Character Recognition (handwriting), Optical Mark Recognition (checkmark) and Asian OCR capabilities. For end users, the result of these enhancements is that they will be able to perform recognition on more types of documents faster and with fewer errors.

ImageGear MD, the toolkit of choice for developers creating medical applications, adds support to V14 for the Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) standard's Presentation State (PS) Objects. When used within a DICOM file, PS Objects allow for the consistent display of images on various devices and media, storage of specific settings for display, and storage of annotations and additional tags such as Patient/Study/Series information. Also included in ImageGear MD V14 is the ability to read 1-bit DICOM files, which assists in the exchange of scanned documents and hand-written notes as part of a DICOM study.
