Accreditation Renewed for Nova Southeastern's SHSS Master's Program in Marriage and Family Therapy.

The Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Training and Education of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT) has renewed its accreditation for the SHSS Marriage and Family Therapy master's program. This renewal is for a standard term of six more years. Program director Pat Cole, Ph.D., led a team to coordinate all the accreditation preparations.

This approval constitutes clear recognition for the Master of Science program by the primary accreditation body for its field. Accreditation is a public service of AAMFT to ensure that educational levels in marriage and family therapy graduate programs are maintained at high levels, and that these programs are fully answerable to their students' needs and their own professional objectives.

The Master of Science program is a 48-hour residential degree program committed to student success and clinical excellence. Students receive intensive, closely supervised, clinical experience at our own family therapy clinic and off campus at a wide variety of internship sites. Most of the courses are offered during evening hours for the convenience of students and mid-career professionals. This program fulfills all the academic requirements for state licensure in Florida, and for clinical membership in AAMFT (additional post-master's experience is required for both credentials).
