According to the Development Plan, During 2005-2010, Chinese PP Capacity Will Exceed 9000kt/yr by 2010.

DUBLIN, Ireland -- Research and Markets (http://www.researchandmarkets.com/reports/c51558) has announced the addition of China PP Market Research to their offering.

The global demand for PP increases continually along with economic recovery. Asia is one of the areas with the fastest economic growth, and PP capacity annual growth there have exceeded 12.12% on average since 1998, far higher than that in other regions. In China, PP apparent consumption reached 7,280kt in 2003 and rose to 7,840mt in 2004, making the country replace the US to be the largest PP consumer in the world.

Chinese PP capacity reached 3,365.5kt/yr in 2004 with 3,422.3kt output and 101.6% operating rate Operating rate

The percentage of total production capacity of a company, industry, or country that is being used.

operating rate

The portion of capacity at which a business operates.
. The output rose by 1.5% from 2003. Outputs of Shanghai Shanghai (shăng`hī`, shäng`hī`), city (1994 est. pop. 12,980,000), in, but independent of, Jiangsu prov., E China, on the Huangpu (Whangpoo) River where it flows into the Chang (Yangtze) estuary.  PC, Yangzi PC and Yanshan PC respectively ranked the first three among Chinese producers, occupying 38% of the total. In China, three producers have a capacity above 400kt/yr, no producers have a capacity of 200~300kt/yr, eight producers have a capacity of 100~200kt/yr and others have a capacity below 100kt/yr.

Driven by sharply-increasing demand, Chinese PP capacity and output saw a rapid growth in recent years, leading to slowly-rising self-sufficiency. However, domestic goods could not satisfy the demand, leaving imports an important replenishment replenishment

the addition of an appropriate quantity of properly prepared solution containing the correct concentration of chemicals to the developer solutions used in radiography.
. Most imports are from the US and Asia, such as Korea, Saudi Arabia Saudi Arabia (sä`dē ərā`bēə, sou`–, sô–), officially Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, kingdom (2005 est. pop. , Singapore, Malaysia and Taiwan. In 2004, over 3,000kt PP were imported to meet domestic demand.

Chinese demand for PP hits 8,300kt in 2005, occupying 21.2% of global demand. There are following units being established in the year: Daqing Refinery 300kt/yr, Shanghai Secco 250kt/yr, CNOOC-Shell 240kt/yr. After finishing these projects, Chinese PP capacity will rise by 790kt/yr from 2004.

The Chinese PP industry is developing rapidly with sharply-rising supply and demand. According to according to

the development plan during 2005~2010, Chinese PP capacity will exceed 9000kt/yr by 2010, adding by 4,500~5,000kt. Demand will hit 12,000kt/yr in the year with an annual growth of 7%. In the context, about 2,500~30,000 shortage will be seen. China will be the largest PP consumer in the world by then.
