About Intermail

To meet demanding Internet e-mail requirements, Intermail features multi-dimensional scalability. Intermail includes multi-threading servers, which enable it to scale as server hardware resources grow. To scale to new levels of storage, Intermail can store messages in industry leading relational databases from Oracle and Informix. Intermail also scales across machines by supporting distributed message store servers that appear as a single system image. The result is a distributed messaging system Software that provides an electronic mail delivery system. It is made up of the following functional components, which may be packaged together or independently.

that can be scaled in multiple dimensions by adding new hardware resources, new database technology, or new server machines, as required.

Intermail is ideally suited to be a component of large scale messaging systems because of its extensible architecture. Intermail extensibility allows other components of the messaging environment to simply plug in either through standard interfaces or through extension of Intermail's object oriented See object technology and object-oriented programming.  architecture. Components which plug in easily include client applications (e.g. the new Netscape Navigator An earlier Web browser for Windows, Macintosh and X Windows from Netscape that provided secure transmission over the Internet. "Intermail represents the leading commercially available product to support Internet messaging services of the scale of AT&T WorldNet Services," said Michael Sullivan-Trainor, Director of the Electronic Messaging and Internet Applications Group for International Data Corporation. "Accordance has focused development on what is fast becoming the recognized bottleneck for very large scale messaging systems - the message store - and delivered a product that is architected to scale as demand requires," he continued.
