It offers several essential features including a high call completion rate, ease of management, and an advanced feature set that includes six layouts of Continuous Presence, Multi-way Transcoding, Touch-Tone Conference Management and an award-winning, user friendly Greet and Guide(TM) capability.

"Today in Louisiana, dedicated ISDN or T1 lines are the primary carrier for visual communications. The network that we are building brings visual and data communications to everyone with a PC and access to the Internet - even those people in the most rural regions. The scope of this project requires high-speed Internet access and an advanced switching and networking system in order to be successful. For this reason, we need a system that will enable us to incorporate legacy ISDN and T1 conferencing systems into our NGI (Next Generation Internet See Internet2. ) network, that uses ATM to provide quality of service, and that will eventually provide support for up to 300 IP systems," said Lee Bairnsfather, Ph.D., Assistant Dean for Information Technology at LSUHSC.

According to Phil Keenan, senior vice president, worldwide sales and marketing at Accord, "We are excited to be working with LSU Health Sciences Center to develop this sophisticated visual communications network. It promises to bring quality healthcare and education to more rural regions and develop a mechanism for better communications throughout the state."
