Acclaim Entertainment Inc. Licenses SciTech Technology.


CHICO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 8, 1997--SciTech Software Inc. today announced it has licensed its proprietary SVGA (Super VGA) A screen resolution of 800x600 pixels. Third-party vendors extended IBM's VGA display standard and were the first to use the term. SVGA has also referred to 1,024x768 resolutions. See PC display modes.  device driver technology to Acclaim Entertainment for distribution with "X-Men, Children of the Atom."

The technology licensed by Acclaim Entertainment is based on SciTech Display Doctor, the universal graphics card utility. This technology automatically detects a user's installed SVGA graphics hardware and upgrades it to the latest industry standards. SciTech Display Doctor provides support for nearly every SVGA graphics chip (over 250 chips), which will ensure that Acclaim's software will run at optimal performance within a variety of graphics hardware configurations.

"`X-Men, Children of the Atom' is a very graphics-intensive game, so we needed to be able to fully utilize the graphics hardware. SciTech's technology allows our software to interface with the graphics hardware so that the game will run at maximum performance," said Roger Booth, director of engineering for Acclaim Entertainment.
