Accident man died 10yrs on; CARNAGE ON OUR ROADS.

A MAN clung to life for almost 10 years after being struck by a car, an inquest inquest, in law, a body of men appointed by law to inquire into certain matters. The term also refers to the inquiry itself as well as to the findings of the inquiry.  heard yesterday.

Niall Bennett had just left a pizzeria with his wife Jean when he was struck.

The incident happened at Lower Drumcondra Road in Dublin on May 12, 1997.

 Coroner's Court heard Mr Bennett weighed just 50kgs when he died on February 2 this year.

The victim, who was from Lower Drumcondra Road, was 34 when the accident happened.

He was thrown seven metres into the air and suffered serious head injuries.

Mrs Bennett was visibly upset during yesterday's inquest.

The jury returned a verdict of accidental death under the direction of the coroner who also expressed his sympathy with the dead man's wife and family.
