) Accident Prevention Plus, Inc. (APP) has announced that an agreement has been signed in December 2000 between APP and Carnegie Mellon Driver Training and Safety Institute (DTSI DTSI Defense Trade Security Initiative

) to grant DTSI a royalty free license to use APP's on-board recording system for use in Carnegie Mellon's not-for-profit driver training and safety operations.

DTSI is headquartered in Connellsville, Pennsylvania Connellsville is a city in Fayette County, Pennsylvania, USA, 57 miles (92 km) southeast of Pittsburgh on the Youghiogheny River, a tributary of the Monongahela River. In 1890, 5,629 people lived in Connellsville, which was a borough at that time. . Dr. Gerard Meyer, President and Chief Executive Officer, says of this signing that, "DTSI is integrating the best educational tools and advanced technologies in order to create a model driver training and research institute. APP provides us with the ability to record and analyze critical data within our trucks and simulators. We are extremely pleased to be able to offer their unique technology to our students."

The agency's major activities are grouped into two "programs," The Federal-aid Highway Program and the Federal Lands Highway , DTSI 's mission is to produce competent and safe drivers for the commercial truck driving industry as well as drivers for emergency vehicles (i.e. ambulances, police cars and fire trucks) in order to improve overall transportation and safety on the road. It is anticipated that it will be achieved by developing driver training schools through out the country.
