AccessLine Technologies announces licensing of patent to Ericsson.


BELLEVUE, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 5, 1996--AccessLine Technologies, the originator of the One Person, One Number(r) concept, announced today that it has completed the licensing of one of its new international patents to Ericsson Telecom AB for use in deploying a universal personal telecommunications Universal personal telecommunications (UPT) is a special segment of the international telephone number space which has been set aside for universal personal telephone numbers. The product Ericsson will be offering incorporates certain call routing features, patented to AccessLine, which are necessary to fulfill the service concept definition of UPT. The patent is the first patent granted of a series of patents pending for AccessLine in international markets.

AccessLine's first international patent issued in Australia and the company is expecting the issuance of similar patents in Europe and Asia. The international patents are added to the company's United States United States, officially United States of America, republic (2005 est. pop. 295,734,000), 3,539,227 sq mi (9,166,598 sq km), North America. The United States is the world's third largest country in population and the fourth largest country in area.  patents already issued, as well as several new patents the company expects to issue in the United States shortly.

The patent that Ericsson has licensed covers features which allow subscribers to route calls from one location to another and to change the routing either automatically based on the user's personal profile, including a time-of-day/day-of-week schedule, or manually, and allow callers to either choose to speak directly with the subscriber or choose other options.
