AccessCom West Conference Provides Access Solutions for Building Owners and New Telecom Companies.

Business Editors

IRVINE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 20, 2000

One of the most contentious issues to emerge from the Telecommunications Act of 1996 is over access to potential customers in buildings the customers don't own. New competitive telecommunications companies want to be able to offer service to businesses located in multi-tenant buildings, but building owners don't want a dozen telecom companies poking holes in walls, planting antennas on roofs and running wires through ceilings all through their property.

Hosted by Shorecliff Communications, a leader in educational and networking events for the broadband industry, AccessCom was created in partnership between BOMA Boma (bō`mə), city (1984 pop. 197,617), Bas-Congo province, W Congo (Kinshasa), on the Congo River estuary. A port and railhead, it exports tropical timber, bananas, cacao, and palm products.  International and numerous new age telecommunications providers seeks to provide solutions to this challenge. AccessCom West will be held August 8-9 at the Irvine Marriott Hotel in Irvine, Calif.

"Developing access agreements has emerged as one of the largest challenges facing building owners and service providers in the competitive telecommunications environment," said Julie Dodd Thomas, Shorecliff Vice President. "Building owners and telecom companies have legitimate interests and differences of opinion. AccessCom seeks to create a forum for these groups to learn more about their options and perhaps find ways to resolve some of their issues."
