), today announced the availability of a quick PC-to-phone dialer feature for FreeWebcall.com(TM) members.

The new application allows customers to place discounted PC-to-phone calls to over 170 countries. The dialer is accessed from the home page of the company's voice portal An interactive voice response (IVR) front end to a data retrieval system. This does not differ in core technology from traditional IVR; rather, the difference is in the application presented. Where old-style IVR was mostly a routing application (press 1 for sales, 2 for service, etc. , http://www.FreeWebCall.com (TM).

The quick PC-to-phone dialer is based on Microsoft's prevalent NetMeeting software, so most members do not need to download and install additional programs to use the new feature. "The dialer is a fast-loading single-function program for members desiring simply to place PC-to-phone calls and take advantage of rates as low as 2.9 cents per minute," said Douglas Bottomley, Access Power's senior vice president of sales and marketing.

The dialer complements FreeWebCall.com's full featured VOIP (Voice Over IP) A digital telephone service that uses the public Internet as well as private backbones instead of the traditional telephone network. Many companies, including Vonage, 8x8 and AT&T (CallVantage), typically offer calling within the country for a  service that includes free PC-to-PC calling, text chat, buddy list A list of colleagues, workgroup members, friends, etc., that you might wish to communicate with via instant messaging.
